A week in the Life of a Surface Pattern Designer | Time Blocking Tips ✏️
Jul 28, 2025
Find clarity, balance, and momentum without burning out
As surface pattern designers, we wear many hats artist, marketer, storyteller, business owner, dreamer. And some weeks, it can feel like we’re juggling it all at once.
If you’ve ever felt pulled in a dozen directions trying to create, post, learn, connect, and keep up—you’re not alone. I’ve been there too. That’s exactly why I began using a loose weekly time-blocking rhythm to bring more ease and clarity to my creative work.
This isn’t about rigid scheduling or filling every moment with “productivity.” It’s about creating space for what truly matters: your art, your energy, your growth, and your dreams.
Why Time Blocking (Gently) Works
We often think of time blocking as strict or limiting—but when used gently, it can become a supportive rhythm that protects your creativity, reduces decision fatigue, and helps you make steady progress without overwhelm.
When you show up with intention, everything begins to shift. Your work becomes more focused. Your mind feels clearer. And your energy starts flowing in the direction of what really matters.
